Ci\u00eancias Humanas e Agr\u00e1rias (CCHA) da Universidade Estadual da Para\u00edba (UEPB), no C\u00e2mpus de Catol\u00e9 do Rocha, em parceria com a Universidade Federal da Para\u00edba (UFPB) e a Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (UFCG), tem ajudado na restaura\u00e7\u00e3o da cultura do maracujazeiro na Microrregi\u00e3o de Catol\u00e9 do Rocha, no Sert\u00e3o do Estado. A pesquisa \u201cSolaplant\u201d, liderada pelo professor Evandro Franklin de Mesquita, visa potencializar culturas t\u00edpicas da regi\u00e3o, a exemplo do quiabo, da melancia, batata-doce, abobrinha, entre outras.<\/p>\n<p>Com a pesquisa, os professores e alunos pretendem contribuir para a irriga\u00e7\u00e3o do maracujazeiro azedo como uma tentativa de reduzir as perdas do rendimento e da qualidade da produ\u00e7\u00e3o, bem como disponibilizar nitrog\u00eanio \u00e0s plantas na \u00e9poca de maior extra\u00e7\u00e3o do nutriente pela cultura, durante o crescimento e desenvolvimento dos frutos. A ideia \u00e9 diminuir o efeito negativo da evapora\u00e7\u00e3o de refer\u00eancia no per\u00edodo da estiagem pela cobertura morta.<\/p>\n<p>Os primeiros resultados da pesquisa j\u00e1 forneceram dados relevantes para a regi\u00e3o, com a redu\u00e7\u00e3o de 3oC na temperatura do solo com cobertura morta em compara\u00e7\u00e3o ao solo desnudo. A Para\u00edba ocupa o s\u00e9timo lugar entre os estados mais produtivos da cultura com produtividade. Segundo o professor Evandro Franklin, os resultados preliminares da pesquisa comprovam a efici\u00eancia do manejo adequado da irriga\u00e7\u00e3o e da aduba\u00e7\u00e3o para que possa contribuir para a restaura\u00e7\u00e3o da cultura, gerando mais uma fonte de renda para os agricultores da microrregi\u00e3o sertaneja.<\/p>\n<p>De acordo com o pesquisador, o manejo da irriga\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e1 sendo feito pelo m\u00e9todo localizado, adotando o sistema por gotejamento com vaz\u00e3o de 8 litros por hora e pulveriza\u00e7\u00f5es a\u00e9reas com microaspersor com vaz\u00e3o de 20 litros por hora, para minimizar o efeito da alta temperatura que, entre as 11h e 14h, concentra-se entre 30oC e 35oC.<\/p>\n<p>Este m\u00e9todo, de acordo com as explica\u00e7\u00f5es do professor Evandro, caracteriza-se pela efici\u00eancia do uso da \u00e1gua e consiste em aplic\u00e1-la no solo, pr\u00f3ximo ao sistema radicular da cultura, em pequenas press\u00f5es e vaz\u00f5es, mas com elevada frequ\u00eancia. \u201cNuma regi\u00e3o em que a evapora\u00e7\u00e3o de refer\u00eancia pode chegar at\u00e9 8 mil\u00edmetros por dia, o uso da irriga\u00e7\u00e3o localizada \u00e9 uma necessidade para a agricultura, o que significa menor quantidade de \u00e1gua evaporada da superf\u00edcie do solo com a pr\u00e1tica da cobertura morta na superf\u00edcie do solo\u201d, explicou o docente.<\/p>\n<p>Al\u00e9m do professor Evandro Franklin, integram a equipe os professores pesquisadores Francisco Pinheiro, Irinaldo Pereira e Irton Miranda, da UEPB;
